MediaHub Desktop 0.2.2-beta — macOS Beta I’ve now reached the point where I’m ready to open up testing of the macOS Desktop version of MediaHub.
This is still an early Beta and I’m still learning as I build it, so at this stage I’m mainly looking for feedback around everyday use, playback, stability and anything that behaves differently across different Mac setups.
What’s included in 0.2.2-beta IPTV through Xtream Codes Jellyfin, Emby and Plex integration Live TV, Movies and Series Native macOS playback Fullscreen playback Movie and episode resume Accounts and settings retained between launches Self-contained macOS application with bundled playback components Native DMG installer macOS Player One of the main areas I’ve been working on for the Mac version is getting playback working properly within MediaHub rather than relying on an external player.
The macOS version now uses a native playback layer while keeping the same MediaHub interface and controls as closely as possible to the Windows Desktop version.
I’ve also tested the packaged application on a completely fresh macOS installation with no separate Java, Homebrew or mpv installation, and MediaHub was able to install and play content successfully as a self-contained application.
macOS Compatibility For this initial Beta, the macOS version is currently intended for:
Apple Silicon Macs — M1, M2, M3, M4 and newer macOS 26
Support for older macOS versions is something I’ll be working on, but for the first Beta I’d rather keep the supported environment limited to what has currently been tested properly.
Intel Macs are not supported by this build.
macOS Security Warning A quick note before installing:
The macOS Beta is currently not digitally signed or notarised, so macOS may prevent MediaHub from opening normally the first time it is launched.
This is expected for the Beta at the moment.
If macOS blocks the application, you may need to go to:
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway
Please only install MediaHub from the official MediaHub download location.
Proper Apple signing and notarisation is something I’ll look at as the Mac version moves further towards a wider release.
Feedback If you do test the Mac version, feedback and bug reports are very welcome.
In particular, I’d be interested to hear about: Playback issues Fullscreen behaviour Different display resolutions/scaling IPTV or media-server compatibility macOS version and Mac model/chip Installer or first-launch issues General UI or usability problems If reporting an issue, please don’t include IPTV usernames/passwords, server tokens or other account credentials in screenshots or posts.
Thanks again to everyone who has tested MediaHub, reported bugs or suggested features so far.
